Saturday, December 8th 2012 Adventure
The year was 2008, in the African land, to be more precise, in South Africa. A place where adventure and relaxation meet. Flying from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the first stop was in Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa. We did not spend so much time out there, but we did get to go deep into earth where a Gold’s mine is, and man, it was breathtaking. The next stop was to Cape Town, my favorite place in the world. We spent most of our time around the Albert and Victoria’s Waterfront harbor, it is a very busy area with a lot of tourists. From there you can enjoy a lot of activities. You can ride a boat and it will lead you to the famous Robben Island and the Two Oceans Aquarium. The most breathtaking place you can visit in Cape Town is The Cape of Good Hope, the point where two oceans meet. You can also visit the Table Mountain, it literally looks like a table! One of the entertaining places for me was a theme park called Ratanga Junction. You can spend a lot of fun time with your family out there. The best ride, for me, was the Sling Shot, it’s more like skydiving plus bungee jump! Speaking of Bungee Jumping, over the Bloukrans Bridge, you can experience one of the highest bungee jumps in the world, from 216 meters over the Bloukrans River. I did not try that myself, but my siblings did, they said it’s a life changing experience, I however did enjoy zip-lining from one tree to another!
If you are an adventure fan, you will enjoy South Africa’s wild life. Their Safari tours are to die for. If you are lucky enough you will be able to see the famous Big Five Animals: Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, and Leopard! We have also had the chance to meet sea animals. We took a boat for Shark Diving, it is true that I was throwing up most of the time, but the sharks were fearless! We were able to see an island full of Seals, it was beautiful! I was really surprised to find out that Penguins live down there, they are tiny creatures but they produce the weirdest voices! The fun yet scary part of this adventure was that we got to ride an Ostrich, they say a kick would simply kill you, true it was fun, but it taste even better!
At the end of a long day, we just enjoyed the beauty of nature surrounding us, and relaxed by the beach, just letting go of everything stressful, and simply enjoy Heaven on Earth.
